This is what I wrote for my Poppy’s funeral
I will always remember Poppy for how nothing came before family in his eyes. He was always so interested and proud of what myself, or anyone in the family was doing, and he was always there to support us. After my first goal in hockey, I called him as soon as I could because I couldn’t wait to tell him and hear how excited he was. I was Poppy’s princess, and he always made sure I knew that. Every time I spoke to him he always made me feel like one. Poppy would always get me to sing a song for him, or tell him a story, or even let me paint his nails, not knowing he couldn’t simply wash it off before he went to bowls. He was also always asking if I had a boy in the picture, and he’d always make me promise that he’d be the only guy for me, and I’d always love him more. I will always remember Poppy as my Prince.
